Dr. Michael Boraczek

Beloved Brother, Uncle, and Retired Teacher, Dr. Michael Louis Boraczek, JR, resident of New Rochelle, New York, at the age of 73, was called on to serve a greater good on August 11, 2018. Michael was born on February 25, 1945 in Bronx, NY to the late Jean Les and Michael Boraczek, SR. He graduated Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, earned his teaching degree at Iona College and later went on to earn his Doctoral Degree at Hofstra University.
Dr. Boraczek’s passion was teaching. He played a huge role in shaping the lives of young adults. He taught his students not only how to read but how to LOVE reading. He spent countless hours and devoted much of his time to sharing his passion. He also mentored teachers and taught them how to teach with the same passion he possessed. Michael taught for over 35 years and finally retired at Lincoln High School in Yonkers, NY but he continued to be very active in the Yonkers school system. One of his greatest accomplishments was the annual YTF Book Bonanza with Red Clifford that he helped start 20 years ago.
Michael will be deeply missed by his sisters Katherine (Arthur) Stanton and Mary Christine (James) Klein, his nephews and nieces, Arthur Stanton, Susan (Thomas) Cestaro, Michael (Anita) Cariello, , Nicole Cody, Jamie (Michael) Karlsson, Jeanni Cody, Jennifer (David) Neumann, Stephanie Klein, and Catherine Klein, is great nieces and nephews Alexa, Max, Kevin, to whom he was a mentor and role model, Derek, Cody, Madison, Layla, Logan, Emma, Massimo, Brooke, Mason, and Alessandra. Michael was predeceased by his sister Susan Selenikas (late Kevin Cody) and nephew Christopher Klein
The family will honor Michael’s life on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home 584 Gramatan Avenue, Mt. Vernon, NY 10522 (914) 699-4010. The funeral mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church, 53 Winter Hill Road, Tuckahoe, NY 10707 (914)961-3643.
In lieu of flowers, Michael would prefer continued random acts of kindness as well as donations to either the Humane Society of New Rochelle or Reading is Fundamental.
