Mariannina Simone

Mariannina Simone, age 103, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2018.  She was predeceased by her husband, Andrea (Andrew) Simone.  She was the devoted mother of Donata (Nella) Morcone and Clement Simone, and loving grandmother of Angela (Morcone) Giannini and Andrea Morcone, John Simone and Ashley (Simone) Fiorenza, and special great-grandmother of Michael Giannini and Thomas Giannini.

Mariannina was the eldest of 10 children.  She is survived by her sisters Elisa Borelli and Cesina Alfiero of Montreal, Canada and Mafalda Battista of Casalciprano, Italy.  She was predeceased by brothers Felice, Giovanni, Gino, Nino and sisters Nunziatina and Giuseppina.  She was also the beloved aunt of 17 nieces and nephews.

Mariannina was born in Casalciprano, Italy, the oldest daughter of Donato and Modestina (Iammatteo) Battista.  She immigrated to the United States in 1954.  She worked as a seamstress at Jay Rose in Mount Vernon, NY.  She was a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Mount Vernon, NY. She was known for her good cooking, baking, hospitality and warm and embracing smile. The family of Mrs. Simone wish to extend their appreciation and thanks to the Staff at the Wartburg for their years of excellent service and care.
