Elizabeth Santore

Elizabeth LaManna Santore of Pleasantville, New York passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, the day before her 92nd birthday, after a brief illness.  Elizabeth “Liz” was born in 1926 in Calabria, Italy, to the late Dominick and Maria DiGiglio LaManna, and was the oldest of six children.  She came to the United States when she was three years old, eventually settling in White Plains, NY where she attended schools.   Elizabeth worked for many years while raising her family, holding secretarial positions in the Purchasing Department of the County of Westchester, the Office of the Registrar of Westchester Community College, and the Security Office at the Westchester County Medical Center. Through the years, Elizabeth suffered many health setbacks and she always fought valiantly, never giving up and always facing yet another challenge with strength and optimism.  She was a beautiful lady with a wonderful sense of style.  Through the years, she enjoyed taking classes in Yoga and Dance, always interested in new experiences.  Elizabeth was a master cook and everyone always looked forward to a wonderful meal at her home because they knew it would be lovingly prepared. Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved siblings Dominick “Mickey”, Joseph and Annunziata “Nancy” LaManna DeRosa. Elizabeth is survived by her beloved sons Kenneth, Richard and Ronald, grandsons Kenneth (Sandra) Santore, Philip (Courtney) Santore, Daniel (Kirsten) Santore and granddaughter Francesca Santore (Michael) Meisten.  She is also survived by her brothers Pasquale “Pat” (Sarah) LaManna, Carmine (Elizabeth) LaManna, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home, 584 Gramatan Ave, Mount Vernon, NY on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm., and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
