Claudine Nembhard Obituary

On Monday, August 12, 2019, the Great Shepherd of the sheep sent the angel on assignment to the Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, New York to bid our beloved Claudine Elaine Campbell-Nembhard to her eternal resting place.

Claudine Elaine Campbell-Nembhard (Dawn) was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica on November 2, 1957 to Albert Campbell and Edith Blair, both of whom proceeded her in death. She attended Church of God of Prophecy, Hopewell, Hanover.  She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.  She was an active member and participated in various ministries within the church.

Claudine attended Bethel All Age School and went on to finish at Harrison Memorial High School in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  Claudine migrated to the United States in December 1979 where she continued her education.  She obtained a Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s degrees from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY.  She received her EDD from Agrosy University.

On December 30, 1989, Claudine was united in holy matrimony to Ian Nembhard, Sr.

Claudine was a prolific educator who specialized in working with special needs students.  She began her career volunteering as a lunch monitor at Graham Elementary Magnet school, where her son attended.  It was at this time she found her calling to be an educator.  Claudine has shared her gifts as nurturer, mentor, role model and teacher with many districts, including Yonkers Public Schools, Gwinnett County Schools, and New York City Public Schools.  She ended her career where she began with the Mount Vernon City School District.

Claudine continued her devotion to Christ when she joined Grace New Life Center.  During her time of service, Claudine developed and ran a successful computer class for adults.  She worked as Public Relations Director, served in the Pantry Ministry and assisted in the early stages for the live-streaming of Sunday Worship Services.

Claudine is remembered as a phenomenal, beautiful, powerful, kindhearted, humorous woman whose smile would brighten the hearts of all who knew her.  Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband Ian Nembhard, Sr., daughter, Andrea Gelling, her son, Ian Nembhard Jr. and only grand baby Jhimon Smith. Her five brothers Easton, Dorian, Dwight, John, and Devon.  Her four sisters Lila, Shaun, Tanya, and Marcy.  A host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, students and coworkers all who will cherish her memories.  She was proceeded in death by her brother Donald and sister Dorcas.

                                                                                    Lovingly Submitted,
