Betty Ann Moore Williams was born September 14, 1933, and lived a vibrant and blessed life. She passed on April 7, 2019, and bequeathed a legacy of love for her family and friends. Known for her grace and resiliency, Betty was the fourth child of Mattie Belle and Oscar Moore, Sr. She was born in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from Lucy Laney High School.
The loves of her life were her son and her granddaughter. Spending time with them brought her such happiness and pleasure. Betty was a devoted and lifelong member of Williams Memorial CME Church. She found great comfort in reading her bible and serving on the Usher Board.
Betty took tremendous joy in meticulously caring for her home and her financial matters and cooking delicious soul food for family and friends. She was an avid sports fan; watching football and basketball delighted her. In challenging moments of her life, she exhibited grace and perseverance. Betty’s generous gift to all who encountered her was her time, energy, attention and love. Professionally, she held various positions at organizations, including Shepeard Community Blood Center, Paine College and other local businesses. She loved travelling on cruises and visiting London and Paris with her family was a highlight of her life.
To cherish her memory, Betty leaves behind a host of esteemed family, friends and colleagues. Her ashes will be interred at South View Cemetery in Augusta at a future date. We will always remember her smile, compassion and elegance.
